Want to learn more about domestic violence and intimate partner violence situation in your country? Our statistical tool for cross-national comparison brings data from TACTICS countries into one analytical instrument.

The tool uses secondary data for seven TACTICS project countries: Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain, France, and Romania. The data is coming from Eurostat Gender-based violence database (2021) as it represents the richest source of statistics on domestic and intimate partner violence in Europe. The data is presented as percentage of country respondents who participated in Eurostat survey.

Eurostat defines gender-based violence against women according to Istanbul Convention as “violence that is directed against a woman because she is a woman or violence that affects women disproportionately” (Istanbul Convention, 2011; Article 3, d).

Domestic violence is defined as all acts of physical, sexual, psychological or economic violence that occur within the family or domestic unit or between former or current spouses or partners, whether or not the perpetrator shares or has shared the same residence with the victim(Istanbul Convention, 2011; Article 3, b).
